Hi, welcome to my organic home kitchen. I am a stay-at-home mom, we are vegetarian, I bring up my child in vegetarian diet too. Since I am cooking for a very young child, my recipe is kid friendly, like I intend to make more gravy , cook the food to a softer texture, simplify the tastes of the food ( healthier for children) and make sure family to have a balance vegetarian diet.
Some basic principles of my cooking are:
1. Meat-free
2. MSG – free
3. NO processed, canned food. (see Toxic Trans Fat in Processed Foods)
4. NO aluminium utensils
5. Egg-free
6. NO artificial colorings
7. NO non-stick pan (see how is non-stick pan can cause sickness)
8. NO creamer ( non diary creamer is even worse )
9. NO chemical seasonings ( like most soysauce are contained preservative and artificial colors)
10. NO GMO product ( especially in soy bean, sweet corn…etc. See What You Should Know About Genetically Modified Foods )
11. NO mock meat
12. NO Five Pungent Plants (onions, garlic, leeks, shallots and asafoetida).
13. NO accurate measurement ( I am not a chef, just use instinct, cooking is about ART, but I do measurement in baking, baking is science compare to cooking)
14. No microwave oven/induction stove. ( see Microwave Ovens – A Recipe for Cancer & Other Health Effects)
15. No sunflower oil, (cannot stand high heat) ,corn oil (many are GMO) , CANOLA oil (100% GMO,the worst) in cooking.
16. Avoid trans fat products. ( see examples of trans fat products here)
These are the basic equipment that can help me to cook healthy and good food for family:
1. A good quality stainless steel wok and clay pot which can stand for high heat, ( you get what you pay)
2. An oven for baking,
3. Natural seasoning ( natural brewed soy sauce, vegetarian miso paste, fermented bean paste, sea salt, brown sugar, organic black soy sauce, organic / natural herbs & spices…),
4. Use palm oil / coconut oil in cooking (can stand high heat).
5. Use fresh ingredients free from chemical fertilizers & pesticides, use only natural / organically grown fruits and vegetables.
Philosophy in cooking are :
” Food is meant to nourish the body, not entertain or excite the children. ” ~ Kim John Payne
” You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpiece, just good food from fresh ingredients . ” ~ Julia Child
” Thou should eat to live; not live to eat. ” ~ Socrates
Always read the labels of ingredients when we buy the products.
Let’s cook with joyfulness, eat with thankfulness & mindfulness.
Happy cooking!
